Lick of The Week #4 - C Dorian Fusion Lick - Joe Marro

Here is our first guest lesson from the one and only, Joe Marro!
This lick is definitely not your typical lick. If you are a fan of Satriani and Vai, you may not be used to this type of thing.
The lick is mainly legato and is a fantastic workout for said technique. You can also incorporate techniques such as hybrid picking into this type of lick.
If you aren't a fusion player and don't think you'll be needing an 'outside' run for your music, at least learn it, and use it as an exercise. I(Eric) am not a fusion player by any means but, practicing this lick has definitely improved my legato. So hopefully it will do the same for you!

About Joe
Joe Marro is a great guitarist/composer from Buffalo, New York. His some of guitar influences include Allan Holdsworth, Fredrik Thordendal, Greg Howe, and Per Nilsson. Joe is a unique guitarist in that he can shred brutally, write insane rhythms but can also compose the most delicate ambient music you've ever heard(fans of Brian Eno should check it out). Joe's band The Disillusionist(formerly known as In the Presence of Enemies) has opened for bands like Animals as Leaders, Dead Letter Circus, Last Chance to Reason, and Evan Brewer.
