Today we have a cool fusion diminished lick you may hear guys like Per Nilsson or Paul Wardingham use.
This one is definitely a lick to get your chops up and get out of the regular shred guitar patterns. Here is a lick in E half/whole diminished. You can play it over an "E/F" chord. And it incorporates hybrid picking and legato techniques.
