-What guitar are you using?
A: The main guitars I use in my videos are 2 awesome guitars by Fernandes. The Revolver X model and the Revolver Classic model. Both phenomenally fantastic guitars!
-What do you use for your guitar tone?
A: I am using a Line6 POD X3 for my tone in all these videos.
-How many years have you been playing guitar?
A: I've been playing for about 4-5 years now.
-What pickups do you use?
A: I am endorsed by and exclusively use DiMarzio and 4 Seasons Pickups.
-What guitar do you recommend for a beginner?
A: I normally don't recommend beginners to buy cheap instruments. If you can get your hands on anything Fernandes, go for it. The Revolver X is a fantastic mid-level priced guitar. Otherwise, any other mid priced guitar will be just fine. Don't go overboard or think buying the most expensive guitar possible will make you better, it will not unfortunately.
-What are your top 5 guitar albums?
A: Passion and Warfare(Vai), Surfing with the Alien(Satch), Introspection(Greg Howe), There's Hope(Sfogli), and False Poetry (Joop Wolters).
-Who are your top 5 guitarists?
A: The top 5 guys who have influenced me the most have been Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, EVH, George Lynch, and Joop Wolters. Although, this changes day to day :P
-How long did you take lessons? Or are you self taught?
A: I took lessons a very long time ago but that was way before I actually took music seriously. I had no interest in playing guitar at the time I was getting lessons. so i eventually stopped. A few years later I heard the amazing guitar work of guys like Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai and gave myself a mission to actually get decent at playing. So the style of playing I have been doing for the past 4-5 years has all been self taught.
-Why did you make ShredTricks?
A: I was noticing a lot of repetition as far as online video teaching was concerned. I didn't really see anyone teaching new concepts, licks, or ideas. Everyone usually just teaches speedy pentatonic licks that have all been heard before. Granted, we have done a pentatonic lesson as well but it also introduced a new concept for note groupings and picking. Not saying our lessons are better and no one else is good, but what I am getting at is I wanted to teach new and things that are not commonly taught. Like Neoclassical licks, all out shred licks, new chord concepts(Eric Johnson Lesson), "In The Style Of" licks(See Jeff Loomis and Yngwie lessons), and also introduce some of my shred buddies as instructors such as Joe Marro and Joop Wollters, who have done some great lessons on here. So to answer your question shorter, to provide something new. :-)
